Yggdrasil, the tree of life, is not only one of the most famous Viking symbols, but also an important element of the Norse belief itself. According to Norse mythology, Yggdrasil is the great tree that connects the nine worlds or the nine kingdoms of the universe. Yggdrasil or Yggdrasill is depicted as an evergreen ash, the largest and most perfect of all trees (in some versions of the Norse myth, such as Sweden or Denmark, Yggdrasil is a "yew tree").
