The original Super man-Red / Super man-Blue tale is an "Imaginary Story" in which Super man is compelled to finish a list of unaccomplished goals, including the enlargement of the Bottle City of Kanndor and eliminating crime and evil from Earth. To accomplish these goals, Super man invents a machine, powered by various types of Kryptanite, that will increase his intelligence. The machine works, increasing Super man's intelligence a hundredfold, but with the unexpected side effect of splitting Super man into twin beings, one outfitted in an all-red costume and the other in an all-blue version. The twins name themselves Super man-Red and Super man-Blue.
