I have try to make a watch face. I am guessing that you are using multiple image layers and control the opacity to display the right number. If I guess right, maybe you can check the condition code for the number 8. when I see my watch carefully I find when the wrong number 8 show up, it will strobe very fast. wish those information can help you! thank you, take care!
