In collaboration with Samsung Mobile and aBlogtoWatch, we are proud to announce a watch face design competition for the groundbreaking Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch.

Facer and ABTW are truly excited about the capabilities of the Samsung Gear S3 and its "always-on" display, which unlike most other smartwatches is capable of offering rich, full-color, and animated watch faces without needing to switch to an "off-state" through the day to preserve battery. Thanks to this technological breakthrough, the Gear S3's watch face is visible all day long by the wearer and onlookers and makes this device the first true "digital fashion" piece. The Contest: Design The Best Digital Face For the Samsung Gear S3

From now until March 23rd, 2017 aBlogtoWatch and Facer invite watch afficionados, designers, and developers to submit watch face designs for the Samsung Gear S3 on the Facer platform. A panel composed of high-end watch designers and industry experts will review and evaluate the submissions based on their quality, creativity, and innovative use of the smartwatch platform and select a total of 5 winners who will be publicly announced at the end of March.

• Yvan Arpa: Swiss watch creator, and designer of the Samsung Gear S3
• Ariel Adams: Founder of aBlogtoWatch
• Ariel Vardi: Co-Founder of Little Labs, makers of Facer

And that's not all! Additional jury members will be announced throughout the month.

Prizes

The jury will select 1 winning design among 5 finalists who will receive the following prizes:

For the winning design

• $500 cash for the best design selected in the 5 finalists

For all 5 finalists

• A Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch
• Designs featured in aBlogtoWatch.com, the Facer platform, and Samsung's social channels
• Designs turned into functional watch faces distributed to hundreds of thousands of smartwatch users on the Facer platform
• Enrollement in the Premium Designer Program of Facer, including ongoing royalties on the revenue generated by their winning designs

Rules

• The designs must be 100% original.
• Designs infringing on any copyright/trademarks will be disqualified.
• Unlimited entries per participant, but only 1 entry can be selected as finalist by the jury.
• The designs must be submitted before March 23rd at midnight Pacific Time.

How to enter:

Two types of submissions will be accepted:

1. Fully functional watch faces created with the Facer Creator. This is the recommended submission method as it will allow you to have full control over the design of the watch face and preview its functionality in the design tool
2. Photoshop/Illustrator file with each animated or functional element on a separate layer, along with mockups describing the functionality of the watch face. Here’s a sample submission.
